Chemistry, Physics and Technology of Surface| Zusammenfassung: | In his paper, P.P. Tolochko discusses the issues of changing own names of ancestors of modern Ukrainians in the Mediaeval times which followed the line “Rus” — “Minor Rus” — “Ukraine” and finished only in the 19th century. It happened, first of all, as a result of the intellectuals’ activity. Starting from the period of reign of the Rurykids dynasty and till the last Hetmans, changes of self-appellations in the “Ukrainian direction” were followed by a general progress of many elements in local population’s material culture, primarily in such categories as handicraft production, house building, fortification and warfare as a whole, and architecture. All of these testify for the fact that the autochthones, starting from the time when civilization formed in their milieu, never deviated this route again, no matter whether they were developing in their own state structures, or within the foreign states. Nevertheless, undoubtedly, the further research in this direction should be continued. |
