Chemistry, Physics and Technology of Surface| Summary: | The pottery from assemblages and layers at Baturyn of the second quarter of the 17th century is studied in the article, namely, it is presented to the scientific circles for the first time. The source base for the research are ceramic products from the seven structures, several pits, Citadel defenses of the appointed time, and also a layer under the Fortress’ rampart built in the 1630s.
The largest group is represented by pots, which belong to the third and fourth types with a slight prevalence of the former according to the form of crown (by L. Chmil). Part of pots has features of transient types. Ornamentation is scarce: the surface of ceramic wares is decorated by relief lines, red clay weaves and a little less by a stamp. Availability of the narrow dated assemblages on the territory of Baturyn after study of ceramics of the latest periods will further allow following the evolution of forms and decoration of tableware within the limits of one hundred years, which will help to clarify already existing chronological scheme. |
