Description
Summary:The measures on conservation and restoration are systematically taken in the National Historical and Archaeological Preserve (NHAP) «Olbia» in order to prepare for exposition the building remains uncovered in various seasons. An experience of conducting such works is theoretically substantiated as a part of scientific and research work of the Preserve (works headed by S.D. Kryzhytskyi, V.V. Krapivina, and O.S. Bieliayev). Besides the conservation of the priority building remains excavated in the Upper and the Lower City (dwellings, public structures, cultic objects: temples and altars, and the defensive ensemble structure), there is a practical experience of conducting the restoration works in the Preserve «Olbia», namely, the life reconstruction of a krepis and a mound of Heuresibios and Arete’s barrow. Conducted in the recent seasons are the conservation works on the reconstruction of partly lost laying of the rooms in the Eastern trade building at Olbian agora. Similar works were managed to be done at Berezan Island for the first time in the years of research. Conservated there, are the objects at Aphrodite temenos: a temple, an altar, a temenos fence, as well as the objects of public (?) usage consisting of a room, a yard with an altar in the centre surrounded by a fence. The objects mentioned are put into exposition of the NHAP «Olbia».
