Description
Summary:The work is devoted to solving the scientific and practical task of studying the impact of war on nature conservation areas using the example of Khortytsia Island, which is part of the Khortytsia National Reserve. The study used multispectral imaging data from the LANDSAT 5 satellite (MSI scanner). It is shown that as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka Reservoir, the water level in the Dnipror River decreases, which affects the water bodies of Khortytsia Island (lakes and straits). It is established that there is a critical impact on the state of biodiversity of the island due to the reduction in the area of the water mirror in some lakes of the island or the disappearance of lakes in general. Key critical impacts for the ecology of the island ecosystem were identified, such as lowering the water level, changes in the river flow, and reducing the oxygen potential of the hydroecosystem. Conclusions were drawn on the need for detailed monitoring, implementation of restoration programs, and improvement of water quality.
