Digital Library of Periodicals of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine| Резюме: | The author analyses demonological attributes and features, mythical layers, projection of the elements of psychological and social reality, demythologization, and demythologization in the behavior of vils – demons of nature in folk ballads of Southern Slavs. The author shows folk songs about mountain, forest, and aquatic creatures that maim people, punish primarily young people in their space – in the woods, on Vilynskomu place, by the stream or lake in the dried-out forest, vil (brodarytsia or brodarkynia, bazhdarytsia, izvorkynia) trying to pay brodaryn or bazhdaryn for crossing the stream by cutoff arms and legs. |
