description To Editor-in-Chief of “Geophysical Journal” V. I StarostenkoIn the article N. V. Olali, D. B. Vengrovich, M. P. Malezhyk “Mathematical modeling of the elastic behavior of structured geophysical media” published in “Geophysical Journal” Vol. 39, No. 5, 2017, we have made a serious mistake. Considering for digital finite element solution the mathematical model of elastic behavior of structured geophysical media, which allows to obtain analytical dependence between elastic parameters and structure we have used solutions of G. A. Vanin, obtained from his monograph “Micromechanics of composite materials”, Kiev: Naukova dumka, 1985, while the corresponding binding reference to the source was omitted. Recognizing the non-acceptance of such a point the authors sincerely apologize for the error of omission. We apply for article retraction because of the unlawful borrowings in a significant amount and ask to consider this article as is not published. N. V. Olali, M. P. Malezhyk, 25 October 2017

Malezhyk “Mathematical modelling of the elastic behavior of structured geophysical media”, помещенной в “Геофизическом журнале” Т. 39, № 5, 2017 г., нами допущена серьезная ошибка. Использовав известную математическую модель упругого поведения композитного материала и аналитические зависимости между упругими параметрами и структурой, перед результатами численного моделирования методом конечных элементов для выявления границ применения аналитических формул были приведены результаты Г. А. Ванина из его монографии “Микромеханика композиционных материалов”, Киев: Наукова думка, 1985. При этом в поданной в печать рукописи была пропущена соответствующая обязательная ссылка на источник. Учитывая недопустимость этого, авторы приносят свои искренние извинения. Просим отозвать данную статью из-за наличия неправомерных заимствований в значительном объеме и считать ее неопубликованной. А. Ваніна з його монографії “Микромеханика композиционных материалов”, Киев: Наукова думка, 1985. При цьому в поданому до друку рукописі було пропущене відповідне обов’язкове посилання на джерело. З огляду на неприпустимість цього, автори приносять свої  щирі вибачення. Просимо відкликати дану статтю через вміст неправомірних запозичень в значному об’ємі та вважати її неопублікованою. N. V.
