Представлено результати палеомагнітних досліджень трапової формації Волині та червоноколірних порід Поділля. Підтверджено аномальну поведінку геомагнітного поля в едіакарії, що проявляється у невідповідності одновікових палеомагнітних полюсів, гіперактивному режимі зміни полярності поля та вкрай низьких значеннях його палеонапруженості. Цим можуть бути обумовлені складнощі у палеогеографічних реконструкціях для цього періоду, а також радикальний вплив геомагнітних умов на навколишнє середовище, зокрема на еволюцію біоти. S.
