Показано шлях розвитку геомагнітних обсерваторій України від заснування до сьогодення. Описано процес модернізації цих обсерваторій та їх сучасний стан. Перші цифрові магнітоваріаційні станції на геомагнітних обсерваторіях «Львів» та «Одеса» були встановлені завдяки тісній співпраці з Інститутом геофізики Польської академії наук. На сьогодні основним програмним забезпеченням для підготовки даних у форматах INTERMAGNET є програмне забезпечення, розроблене польськими колегами. S.
