Резюме:The results of  the paleontological investigation of the Upper Cretaceous deposits from the area of the Volhynian Basalt Ridge and theHorynRiverValleyare given in this paper. The Cretaceous deposits exposed in the steps of the Berestovets basalt quary are represented by bioherm detrital limestones, conglomerates, detrital, pelitic and chalky limestones. These rocks are assinge to theUpper Cenomanian, Lower and Middle Turonian by the analysis of macrofaunal assemblages (ammonites and bivalves) and microfaunal assemblages (nannofossils, foraminifera, ostracods). The author found and described the Early Cenomanian bivalve assemblag ifrom the chalcedonic deposits of the Tashky and Krupec quarries. Later, the age of those chalcedonic deposits was confirmed by micropaleontologycal research of spicules of the sponges’ assemblage. The geological investigations of volcanic rocks and tuffaceous siltstones, underlaing the late Cretaceous deposits were carried out to dissolve the problems of their age The age of basalts and tuffaceous aleurolites is controversial. Other scientists relate these rocks to the Mesozoic-Cenozoic (Campanian-Neogene) formation. Critical analysis of their arguments showed the error of such ideas.
