The peculiarities of morphology and genesis of the commercial Visean coal seam ʋ03, which occurs in deep horizons of the extreme north-west of the basin (Kovel prospect) are shown. The confinement of accumulation of the source matter of the seam to the inherited tectonic valley-like depression of latitudinal stretch and forming of the source plant mass in the environment of strongly flowing peat bogs, which determined the special material composition of coal, is revealed. For the first time the dependence between the peculiarities of the preCarboniferous paleo relief, which becomes apparent due to splitting of the coal seam and complication of its structure towards the valley-like depression, as well as location of the areas of commercial thickness coal seams to the slopes of the paleo valley, is shown. The new type of coal accumulation, which is characteristic for the platform coalbbearing formations, located just on the erosional surfase of the underlying deposits, is established.
