 The critical remarks concerning the works of some authors, which consider the development of the Urals from the point of view of plate tectonics, are made. The author describes the formation of the riftogenic belt of the Urals on the rocks of the Eastern-European platform from the point of view of pulsation tectonics. In the Caledonian riftogenic cycle the structures were formed during such stages: splitting-volcanic, caldera-graben, and splitting-plutonic. In the Herzynian contarction-orogenic cycle underthrust-plutonic stage occurred.
