| description | The review of research on problems of protection of groundwater from pollution is presented. The need for an intensive study of the drinking groundwater quality changes in the 1950s was associated with the water consumption rise and an increase in the discharge coming from the untreated wastewaters. It was not until 10 or 15 years afterwards that the world drew its attention to the lost oil products as specific pollutants of the underground hydrosphere. In the 80’s and 90’s the occurrences of finding the hidden oil products in the soil layer have become more frequent. The Department of Groundwater Protection of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine took a direct part in the investigation of many such sites. From 2013 until 2017, the framework of NATO’s Program on “Science for Peace and Security” implemented a project to equip the military unit with a modern remediation system for oil pollution extraction from the subsoil. This is the first international project implemented in Ukraine, which aims at bringing the territory of military site contaminated by oil products at a safe state. |

Представлен обзор исследований по проблемам охраны подземных вод от загрязнения. Необходимость в усиленном изучении изменений качества питьевых подземных вод в 50-е годы прошлого столетия была связана с ростом водопотребления и увеличением сброса отработанных неочищенных вод. Однако прошло еще свыше 10-15 лет пока в мире обратили внимание на утраченные нефтепродукты как на специфический загрязнитель подземной гидросферы. В 80-90-е годы в Украине участились случаи проявления скрытых в грунтовой толще скоплений утраченных нефтепродуктов. В изучении многих таких скоплений отдел охраны подземных вод Института геологических наук НАН Украины принимал непосредственное участие. В течение 2013–2017 гг. в рамках Программы НАТО «Наука ради мира и безопасности» в Украине был реализован проект обустройства на территории воинской части современной системы извлечения из недр нефтепродуктовой жидкости. Это первый реализуемый в Украине международный проект, направленный на приведение в безопасное состояние загрязненной нефтепродуктами геологической среды на территории военного объекта. Представлено огляд досліджень з проблем охорони підземних вод від забруднення. Необхідність у посиленому вивченні змін якості питних підземних вод у 50-ті роки минулого століття була пов’язана із зростанням водоспоживання і збільшенням скиду відпрацьованих неочищених вод. Проте минуло ще понад 10-15 років аж поки в світі звернули увагу на втрачені нафтопродукти як на специфічний забруднювач підземної гідросфери. У 80-90-ті роки в Україні почастішали випадки виявлення прихованих в ґрунтовій товщі осередків втрачених нафтопродуктів. У дослідженнях багатьох таких осередків відділ охорони підземних вод Інституту геологічних наук НАН України брав безпосередню участь. Протягом 2013–2017 рр. у рамках Програми НАТО «Наука заради миру та безпеки» в Україні був реалізований проект облаштування на території військової частини сучасної системи вилучення з надр нафтопродуктової рідини. Це перший реалізований в Україні міжнародний проект, що направлений на приведення у безпечний стан забрудненого нафтопродуктами геологічного середовища на території військового об’єкту.
