| description | The main achievements of the staff of the Department of paleontology and stratigraphy of the Paleozoic deposits of the Institute of the Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for the period from 1990 to 2018 were highlighted. Their goal was to identify the regularities of the geological structure of the sedimentary cover of different regions of Ukraine, to use the phenomena of the animal and plant world evolution during the Paleozoic to justify the stratigraphic boundaries as boundaries of reorganization of paleoecosystems of different rank. The main directions of research are considered: the study and monographic description of the most important groups of fossils with the aim of construction of zonal biostratigraphic scales and detailed regional stratigraphic schemes for Paleozoic systems of different regions of Ukraine; participation in the research of the international projects of the International Union of Geological Sciences for the improvement of the International Chronostratigraphic Paleozoic Scale; the study of the distribution of facies and formations in the past geological epochs, the compilation of lithofacial and paleogeographical maps. Creation of an independent school of highly qualified internationally estimated stratigraphers and paleontologists, authors of papers and books of the international level and stratigraphic schemes of all the Paleozoic systems of Ukraine, as well as its own Stratigraphic Code are considered as the most important achievements of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the field of paleontology and stratigraphy for 100 years of its existence. The main trends in the development of paleontological and stratigraphic studies throughout the world and the possibilities for their development in the Institute of Geological Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine are indicated. |

Освещены главные достижения сотрудников отдела палеонтологии и стратиграфии палеозойских отложений Украины с 1990 по 2018 г., целью научных исследований которых было – выявление закономерностей геологического строения осадочного чехла разных регионов Украины, использование феноменов эволюции мира животных и растений на протяжении палеозоя для обоснования стратиграфических границ как рубежей перестройки палеоэкосистем разного ранга. Рассмотрены основные направления исследований – изучение и монографическое описание самых важных групп ископаемых животных и растений с целью разработки зональных биостратиграфических шкал; построение детальных региональных стратиграфических схем по системам палеозоя для разных регионов Украины; участие в выполнении работ в международных проектах по усовершенствованию Международной хроно-стратиграфической шкалы палеозоя; изучение распространения фаций и формаций в прошедшие геологические эпохи, составление литофациальных и палеогеографических карт. В качестве важнейших достижений Национальной академии наук Украины в области палеонтологии и стратиграфии за 100 лет ее существования указаны – создание самостоятельной школы высококвалифицированных специалистов страти-графов и палеонтологов, авторов монографий международного уровня и стратиграфических схем всех систем палеозоя Украины, а также собственного Стратиграфического кодекса. Обозначены основные тренды развития палеонтологических и стратиграфических исследований во всем мире и возможности их развития в Институте геологических наук НАН Украины. Висвітлено головні здобутки науковців відділу палеонтології та стратиграфії палеозойських відкладів Інституту геологічних наук НАН України впродовж 1990-2018 рр. на шляху до досягнення головної мети – виявлення закономірностей геологічної будови осадового чохла регіонів України, розвитку її тваринного і рослинного світу протягом палеозою та обгрунтування стратиграфічних меж як рубежів перебудови палеоекосистем різного рангу. Розглянуто основні напрями досліджень – вивчення та монографічний опис найважливіших груп викопної фауни і флори з метою розробки зональних біостратиграфічних шкал; розробка детальних регіональних стратиграфічних схем по системах палеозою для різних регіонів України; участь у розробці міжнародних проектів щодо удосконалення Міжнародної хроностратиграфічної шкали палеозою; вивчення поширення фацій і формацій у минулі геологічні епохи, складання літофаціальних і палеогеографічних карт. Виділено як найважливіші досягнення Академії наук України у палеонтолого-стратиграфічній галузі за 100 років її існування – побудова особистої школи висококваліфікованих фахівців стратиграфів і палеонтологів, авторів палеонтологічних монографій міжнародного рівня і стратиграфічних схем всіх систем палеозою України та власного Стратиграфічного кодексу. Визначено основні тренди розвитку палеонтолого-стратиграфічної галузі у світі та можливості розвитку цього напряму в Інституті геологічних наук НАН України.
