| description | The scientific schools on the study of the Paleogene and Neogene deposits of Ukraine, initiated in the Institute of Geological Sciences of NAS of Ukraine are characterized. The attention is focused on the continuity of research generations and the preservation of the traditions of scientific schools. The main stages of development of biostratigraphical and paleontological studies from the moment of the creation of the schools to the present time are analyzed; the achievements in the study of Cenozoic deposits are presented. The role of researchers in solving of fundamental scientific problems, as well as the implemantation of scientific developments in the practice of geological survey and prospecting work are shown. Prospective directions of stratigraphic-paleontological research and ways of further integration into the international scientific community are outlined. |

Охарактеризованы научные школы по изучению палеогеновых и неогеновых отложений Украины, основанные в Институте геологических наук НАН Украины. Акцентировано внимание на преемственности поколений исследователей и сохранении традиций научных школ. Проанализированы основные этапы развития биостратиграфических и палеонтологических исследований от момента создания школ до настоящего времени; представлены достижения в изучении кайнозойских отложений. Показана роль исследователей в решении фундаментальных научных проблем, а также внедрении научных разработок в практику геологосъемочных и поисковых работ. Намечены перспективные направления палеонтолого-стратиграфических исследований и пути дальнейшей интеграции в международное научное сообщество. Охарактеризовано наукові школи по вивченню палеогенових і неогенових відкладів України, започатковані в Інституті геологічних наук НАН України. Акцентовано увагу на спадкоємності поколінь дослідників і збереженні традицій наукових шкіл. Проаналізовано основні етапи розвитку біостратиграфічних та палеонтологічних досліджень від моменту створення шкіл до сьогодення; представлено досягнення у вивченні кайнозойських відкладів. Показана роль дослідників у вирішенні фундаментальних наукових проблем, а також впровадженні наукових розробок у практику геологознімальних та пошукових робіт. Визначені перспективні напрями палеонтолого-стратиграфічних досліджень і шляхи подальшої інтеграції у світову наукову спільноту.
