The properties of solutions of problems with are given Розглядаються задачі безумовної мінімізації опуклих функцій для знаходження мінімальних за -нормою лінійних сплайнів для випадків та . Вони побудовані по аналогії з подібними задачами для знаходження числа, яке за -нормою мінімально відрізняється від заданих чисел . Якщо , то використовується негладка функція, а якщо — гладка функція. Показано, що при певному виборі параметра оптимізаційні задачі породжують відомі методи — метод найменших квадратів, метод найменших модулів та мінімаксний чебишевський метод.
