Geological journal| Summary: | The Transcarpathian Neogene depression is surrounded by External Carpathians Panonian basin, east-Slovakian depression and Transilvanian depression. The geologic study within Transcarpathian depression started in XIX century. Active research phase started after the end of XIX and is continuing up to now. Within the depression the following geophysic surveys are conducted: gravimetric, magnetic, seismic. A significant amount of mapping, structural, parametric, and exploration drilling has also been conducted. As a result of oil and gas exploration several gas fields have been discovered such as: Rusko-Komarivske, Stanivske, Korolivske, Solotvynske. One of the features of gas content is chemical composition of natural gases, which is characterized by significant amount of nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Most researchers make hypothesis that gases within Transcarpathian depression are of non-organic origin. The further clarification of the conditions of formation and distribution of natural gases will allow to separate further directions of setting of exploration works on gas with high calorie content. |
