Geological journal| Zusammenfassung: | The article is dedicated to the significant milestones in the scientific career of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, geologist-geochemist O.M. Ponomarenko. It highlights his path in science and his role in the development of isotope geochronology and isotope geochemistry in Ukraine; in geochronological studies aimed at reconstructing the early stages of the geological history of the Ukrainian Shield; as well as in the development and implementation of advanced technologies for processing and enriching oxidized iron ores. One of the significant achievements of O.M. Ponomarenko is the solution of tasks for replenishing the mineral raw material base of Ukraine, the issues of identifying ilmenite-apatite deposits containing rare earths, vanadium and fluorine.
