description	The data on Precambrian metaconglomerates of the Ukrainian Shield and its slopes are summarized. The stratigraphic position, material composition, lithologic and genetic features, and metal-ore content of metaconglomerates and metaclastic complexes containing them are considered. A comparative characterization of the lithological types of metaconglomerates of different stratigraphic levels of the Precambrian of Ukraine is given. A typification of metaconglomerates according to a number of criteria (stratigraphic, material, structural) is proposed for the purposes of historical and geological analysis, metallogenic and prospecting evaluation for some types of minerals, primarily gold, uranium, thorium, and rare earths. Metaconglomerates on the Ukrainian Shield are known from the base of the Paleoproterozoic. Different stratigraphic levels of conglomerate accumulation show characteristic differences in localization and spatial distribution. All levels are specific in terms of the material composition and lithological features of conglomerates, which is the most important correlative criterion in stratigraphic comparisons. Among the Precambrian metasedimentary rocks of the Ukrainian Shield, various lithologic-facies and lithologic-petrographic types inherent in Phanerozoic conglomerates are diagnosed (reconstructed). The absence of tillites among the metaconglomerates is characteristic. A consistent increase in the thickness of psephites and the degree of their polymicticity from the Archean to the Mesoproterozoic is clearly observed. Both the lower and the upper half of the Paleoproterozoic of the Ukrainian Shield are characterized mainly by transgressive sequences of coarse-clastic conglomerate-bearing formations.

Узагальнено відомості про докембрійські метаконгломерати Українського щита та його схилів. Розглянуто стратиграфічне положення, речовинний склад, літолого-генетичні особливості та рудоносність метаконгломератів і метатеригенних комплексів, що їх вміщують. Надано порівняльну характеристику літологічних типів метаконгломератів різних стратиграфічних рівнів докембрію України. Запропоновано типізацію метаконгломератів за низкою критеріїв (стратиграфічних, речовинних, структурних) для цілей історико-геологічного аналізу, металогенічної та пошукової оцінки на деякі види корисних копалин, насамперед на золото, уран, торій, рідкісні землі. Власне метаконгломерати на Українському щиті відомі починаючи від основи палеопротерозою. Різні стратиграфічні рівні нагромадження конгломератів виявляють характерні відмінності в особливостях локалізації та просторового розміщення. Всі рівні специфічні за речовинним складом і літологічними особливостями конгломератів, що є найважливішим корелятивним критерієм під час стратиграфічних зіставлень. Серед докембрійських метапсефітових порід Українського щита діагностуються/реконструюються різноманітні літолого-фаціальні та літолого-петрографічні типи, притаманні фанерозойським конгломератам. Характерна відсутність серед метаконгломератів тилітів або тилоїдів. Цілком виразно простежується послідовне зростання потужностей псефітів, а також ступеня їхньої поліміктності від архею до мезопротерозою. Як для нижньої, так і верхньої половин палеопротерозою Українського щита характерні в основному трансгресивні послідовності грубоуламкових конгломератовмісних формацій.
