У статті, на основі архівних документів і спогадів сучасників, висвітлено маловідомі сторінки із життєвого шляху Олександра Андрійовича Кир’якова – людини, яка залишила помітний слід в історії гончарного шкільництва Полтавщини першої третини ХХ століття. Останні роки його життя пройшли в столиці українського гончарства Опішному. Тут він помер і похований в 1943 році під час німецької окупації містечка.
В статье, на основании архивных документов и воспоминаний современников, изложены малоизвестные страницы из жизненного пути Александра Андреевича Кирьякова – человека, который оставил видимый след в истории гончарных школ Полтавщины первой трети ХХ столетия. Последние годы его жизни прошли в столице украинского гончарства Опошне. Здесь он умер и похоронен в 1943 году, в период немецкой оккупации местечка.
The article elucidates some little-known pages from the Oleksandr Kyryakov’s course of life on the basis of the archivalias and reminiscences of contemporaries. It was the man who made his appreciable mark on the history of pottery school education of the Poltava region of the early ХХ century. Being from a poor family by birth, he qualified as a mining engineer in St. Petersburg. Still an undergraduate, he was a member of revolutionary circles. Later, he worked at different factories in Russia. In April 1904, Oleksandr Kyryakov, as a competent manager and expert, became the principal of the Myrhorod Art Industrial Mykola Hohol School and was in charge of it during 13 years, having brought it to the proper standard. In the late 1920s – the early 1930-х, he worked in the city of Poltava, at the Poltava Training College of Industrial Co-Operative Societies, which was created on the basis of the All-Ukrainian Polytechnic Courses for Instructors of Art Industry. The last years of the Oleksandr Kyryakov’s life passed in Opishne, the capital of Ukrainian pottery, where he lectured in the school of the masters of art ceramics. Here he died and was buried in 1943, during the German occupation of the town.
