Стаття присвячена історії створення настінних розписів першої чверті ХІХ ст.
 Спасо-Преображенського собору (ХІ ст.) у Чернігові, котрі є важливою складовою
 сучасної храмової декорації. Приділено увагу їхнім дослідженням, аналізуються проекти розміщення сюжетів розпису. Статья посвящена истории создания настенной живописи (первая четверть
 ХІХ в.) Спасо-Преображенского собора (ХI в.) в Чернигове, являющейся важной частью современной храмовой декорации. Затрагивается также история исследования
 настенных росписей, анализируются проекты размещения сюжетов. The article is devoted to the history of mural painting creation (The first quarter of
 the nineteenth century.) Holy Transfiguration Cathedral (XI c.) In Chernihiv. These mural
 painting are the part of modern interior decorations. They were created in the first quarter
 of the nineteenth century. The article covers briefly the historiography of the research of the
 mentioned mural painting in the second half of XIX – XX centuries.
 Chernihiv Archbishop Michael (Desnytsky) headed the eparchy in 1803 — 1814. He
 took the lead in creating new mural painting in Holy Transfiguration Cathedral .The work
 was done under the leadership of master from Voronezh – Akim Yurinov. The dean of Holy
 Transfiguration Cathedral priest Yoann Elenev became the initial project author of the
 paintings. Later he had to change the original project because of financial problems. The
 second version of composition was accepted to execution.
 The main attention of the article is paid to the analysis of mentioned above comparative
 projects. A brief summery characteristic is given to each project. Also the projects differences
 in concepts and composition are examined. The author of the article supposes that the idea
 of the second project was taken from the scenes in medallions of the Holy Transfiguration
 Cathedral iconostasis royal gates.
 The author of the article comes to the conclusion that for existing at present plan was
 performed in general, though some ideas were not realized.
