У статті досліджено ключові моменти інтелектуальної біографії
 М. Іванишева (1811–1874) – професора київського Університету
 св. Володимира, педагога, археографа, історика-правознавця, громадського діяча, організатора історичних та історико-юридичних досліджень на українських теренах та за їхніми межами. Постать
 М. Іванишева є прикладом формування інтелектуальної еліти Російської імперії. Водночас вона залишається малодослідженою у вітчизняній історіографії, хоча вчений відіграв важливу роль у становленні
 та розвитку історико-юридичної школи. До кола наукових інтересів
 вченого належали історичні пам’ятки XIII–XVІІ cт., без всебічного
 аналізу яких неможливо реконструювати у всій повноті й об’єктивності історичний процес, генезу правової системи України. Значущим
 є внесок М. Іванишева у розвиток українського слов’янознавства,
 археології та археографії. Багато аспектів його інтелектуальної біографії досі не відтворено, а образ залишається невиразним на тлі
 тогочасної суспільно-політичної епохи. The article focuses on the key points of the intellectual biography of
 M. Ivanyshev (1811–1874), a professor at the St. Volodymyr University of
 Kyiv, a teacher, an archaeologist, a historian, a lawyer, a public figure, an
 organizer of historical and historical-legal studies in Ukrainian territories
 and beyond. The figure of M. Ivanyshev is an example of the formation of
 the intellectual elite of the Russian Empire. At the same time, it remains
 poorly investigated in national historiography, although the scholar played
 an important role in the formation and development of the historical and
 legal school. To the circle of legal interests of the scientist belonged
 historical monuments XIII–XVII centuries, without a comprehensive analysis
 of which it is impossible to reconstruct in its entirety and objectivity
 the historical process, the legal system of the past of Ukraine. Significant is
 the contribution of M. Ivanyshev to the development of Ukrainian Slavic
 Studies, archeology and archeography. Many aspects of his intellectual
 biography have not yet been created, and the image remains obscure on the
 background of the contemporary socio-political era.
