Стаття присвячена вивченню жіночої та масової журнальної періодики першого повоєнного десятиліття. У матеріалі проаналізовано зміст часописів, виокремлено публікації, які охоплювали аспекти материнства і дитинства, досліджено проблематику питань, порушених у редакційних повідомленнях, репортажах, кореспонденції, дописах. The article deals with the study of women’s and mass magazines of the first post-war decade. The author analyzes the content of the periodicals, outlines publications covering the aspects of motherhood and childhood, investigates the issues raised in editorial reports, stories, items and articles. The analyzed publications suggest that the development of magazines was inextricably linked to political ideology, socio-economic situation, and cultural development of society, and show that there was an excessive control over the media performed by the state. The vast majority of information focused on the different categories of society such as women, children and mass audience of readers was biased and ideologically-based. Most of the materials reflected the main achievements of the state; the emphasis was constantly made on the prospects of economic, political, social and cultural development. Each magazine, regardless of its thematic focus and general orientation on a specific category of society, had its own specifics of publications. However, it is quite possible to imagine an overall picture of the priority of publications on specific topics. It may be noted that the political themes and information on the economic and social achievements of the USSR were most extensively raised in magazines oriented on the mass audience of readers. Articles on upbringing and childcare were published mainly in women’s magazines. Educational and entertainment topics were prevalent in publications for children. Issues related to maternity and childhood were usually published in women’s publications, and sometimes in publications for the mass audience of readers.
