В статье рассмотрены особенности костюмных
комплексов, материалы для изучения которых найдены на территории Лесотепного Правобережья.
Женский убор отличался такими элементами как гвоздиковидные сережки, шпильки, украшения из
самоцветов. Эти декоративные элементы оформления костюмов были этнолокальными признаками
костюмов местного населения из региона скифов-пахарей.
Scythian population’s dress comprises a variety of
ethnographic features preserved almost throughout
the entire Scythian period. This can be seen in various
categories of decoration complexes. Ethno-local markers
of women’s garments in the Forest-Steppe Right-
Bank area included nail-like earrings, necklaces of
gems (mostly, of amber), and pins. The origin of these
ornaments is linked with the material culture of pre-
Scythian tribes in the Middle Dnieper area, Central
and North-Western Europe, due to genetic linkages
between the archaeological cultures of those regions and the Right-bank Forest-Steppe, which date back to
the Bronze Age. In 5000—4000 BC, the Scythian lands were home to the Hellenic — Scythian art; therefore,
the costumes most clearly reflect signs of interaction between the local, as well as «Iranian» (that is, in fact,
Scythian) and Hellenic elements. The means of costume decoration indicate changes in the principles of
the Ploughmen Scythians’ decorative art. Women’s costumes demonstrate the emergence of new ornaments,
whose origin is linked to the Hellenic culture. Meanwhile, there were workshops in the Middle Dnieper
area, in which jewelers made ornaments based on samples of the Hellenic decorations but taking into account
with local artistic traditions, and in addition, created completely original items.
