In this scholarly research creativity of the artist of the Ternopil, viz. that of Mykhaylo Nykolaychuk is under analysis. We have traced the influence of cultural life in Lviv as well as that of the processes which took place in the Ukrainian art surroundings in the last third of the XXth century — at the beginning of the XXIst century on his paintings. For decades the artist was looking for new attempts of expressing images in correspondence with the changes in artistic circles of that period in Ukraine. The style laid down by Lviv Decorative Art School remains unchanged.
