The article presents an attempt of reconstruction of the building history of the Western district of Chersonesos in the Early Byzantine period. In this part of the site the following areas have been uncovered: Northern-Western part with the complex of Western basilica, the area of the so-called Basilica on the Hill and that of the four-apsidal church. The area of the Western basilica was added to the territory of the town as a result of erection of a new defensive wall (curtains 1 and 2). In the northern-western corner of the annexed territory building A-B with cistern for salted fish was built. Material sealed under its foundations in combination with the coin of Leo I (457-474) found within the masonry of one of the walls allows dating its construction within the period between the mid 5th and late 5th early 6th cc. Hence, the new line of defensive walls built a little bit earlier cannot be assigned to the period of Justinian I as it is generally assumed.
