Historic practice of relations of Late Rome with barbarians, first of all the Germans, created Phoederatism as a system. This system evolved in the 4th - 5th centuries generating different types of treaties with various military-political consequences. The system of treaty relations (Phoederatism) determined the political fate of Western Roman Empire and influenced the formation of barbarian enclaves in the Empire, socio-economic and political processes in them, which brought to the formation of barbarian kingdoms and pro-feudal states in Western Europe.
