Description
Summary:The article is devoted to the characteristic of the amphora material of Roman time, which originates from the archaeological excavation of hillfort Kartal (suburb), situated near village Orlovka of Reni district in Odessa region. This collection of amphora tare divides on four groups, three of them constitute red ware amphora of different types, and one of them is the group of narrow-necked pale ware vessels. The first originates from the different centers of western and south-western Asia Minor or eastern Mediterranean region. Pale ware vessels with the narrow neck are of the late Heraclea's production. It is supposed, that amphora and production, contained in them, arrived to the hillfort Kartal from Dobrudja, through the mediation of such Western-Pontic Greek centers, as Istria, Tomi, Kallatis.
