Description
Summary:В статье анализируется фаунистический комплекс стоянки Юдиново. По результатам исследований, делается вывод об основных объектах охоты её обитателей и сезонности существования поселения. The osteological material from the Epigravettian Yudinovo site in the Russian Plain was studied. Detailed paleontological and archaeozoological analyses of the faunal complex were carried out. As shown by the animal remains, the subsistence of the sites of Western Russia was based on hunting. Mammoth constituted the preferred hunting prey, followed by fur animals. During the final stage of the Late Pleistocene the climate became cooler, drier and the tundra-steppe zone was predominating. The analysis of the osteological material leaves one in no doubt that the Yudinovo site was inhabited seasonally. The absence of animal remains procured in the summer proves that Yudinovo was the cool season settlement. The taphonomic and palaeobiological analyses shows that the bone complexes at the site were constructed from body parts and bones that were extracted from freshly killed mammoths.
