Показано, що спінова структура елементарних частинок природно описується узагальненими лагранжіаиами Остроградського, що залежать від похідних вищого порядку. Одна компонента спіну відповідає обертанню частинки, а друга, що обумовлена залежністю лагранжіана від прискорення, відома як вібраційна (zitterbewegung) компонента.
