Стаття присвячена аналізу позитивного вітчизняного та зарубіжного досвіду щодо популяризації читання, збереження його як культурно-освітнього феномену з урахуванням тих змін, які стались під впливом поширення нових інформаційних та комунікаційних технологій. Вирізнено форми роботи, спрямовані на підвищення інтересу до читання та рівня читацької активності населення; визначено роль бібліотеки як бібліотечно-інформаційного та соціокультурного центру. The article is devoted to the analysis of positive Ukrainian and foreign experience to promote reading, maintain it as a cultural and educational phenomenon, considering the changes that have occurred under the influence of the dissemination of new information and communication technologies. It is allocated forms of work aimed at increasing interest in reading and level of reading activity of Ukrainiana namely: cultural-informational project «Ukraine reads», all-Ukrainian campaign «knygomania» − Ukrainian propaganda reading for children created by analogy with the European program; international traveling Symposium «Literature. Children. Time» (as a part of all-Ukrainian socio-cultural project «All of Ukraine reads to kids»). In the article it is presented the role and importance of the library as a library information and cultural center, and the librarian as a specialist, possessing modern information and communication-computer and multimedia technologies to modernize the process of the formation of the library collection and services, contributes to meeting the needs of readers in the format of qualitatively new information and educational services is presented.
