конюшого (Officium stratoris), поширеного у середньовічній Західній Європі. Зроблено
висновок про надання почестей Белі IV, але не визнання його сюзеренітету. Цей жест
забезпечував поле для політичного маневру в ході подальшої боротьби за Галицьку землю.
The investigation deals with the problem of
the participation of volhynian duke Danylo in the
enthronement ceremony of the Hungarian king
Bela IV in 1235. It is shown that the testimonies
of historical sources about this fact are veridical.
In the submined article the main anention is paid
to the symbolic meaning of the leading a horse.
Some researchers interpreted the move as a voluntary
expression of allegiance subordination of older Romanovych to new monarch of the Árpád
dynasty. These hypotheses are questioned, because
their arguments are incomplete. At the same time it is analyzed the content of the widespread
in medieval Western Europe groom service (Officium stratoris). It is concluded that this motion
was granting the honors of Bela IV, but it wasn’t the recognition of his suzerainity. The gesture
provided the framework for political maneuver in the further struggle for the Galician land.
