і етичні аспекти новітнього історієписання. Наголошується, що литовська
доба нині практично викреслена з масової історичної свідомості через брак
сучасних комеморативних практик. Водночас пам’ять про неї актуалізують
як окремі ювілеї, так і деякі поточні соціоекономічні й політичні явища. Цьому ж має зарадити її візуалізація – в якнайширшому спектрі можливостей, із залученням зусиль дослідників, художників, скульпторів, телевізійників,
кінематографістів, організаторів фестивалів середньовічної культури тощо.
The paper deals with the problems of visualization of Ukrainian history of the age of Lithuanian
political supremacy (14–16th centuries). It covers such issues as the use of various images
produced at that time (Polish engravings of the 16th century, miniatures of the Illustrated
Chronicle of Ivan the Terrible etc.), pictures of contemporary painters, photo-forgeries and
so on. The article contains also author’s remarks regarding the problem of plagiarizing. It is
as evident in the field of illustrating the scholarly publications as in the history-writing itself
and needs special public attention. Author makes a stress that the Lithuanian age is in fact
lost for the mass historical conscience in Ukraine due to the lack of related commemorative
practices. At the same time the memory about this period is being refreshed by some current
sociopolitical developments. The same effect may be achieved through joint efforts of scholars,
journalists, painters, filmmakers and organizers of medieval festivals.
