У статті розглядаються питання щодо рівня володіння українською мовою працівниками органів державного управління Ніжинського округу, організації курсів вивчення української мови, особливості процесу українізації в сільській місцевості. Наводяться
 статистичні відомості, які свідчать про певні успіхи у справі опанування національною мовою. Розглядаються заходи спеціальної
 окружної комісії щодо здійснення контролю за ходом українізації. The article discusses issues related to the level of the Ukrainian
 language proficiency by government bodies employees of the Nizhyn
 district, the organization of courses for studying the Ukrainian language,
 special features of ukrainization in rural areas. The article provides
 statistical data showing progress in the mastering of the national
 language. The Soviet party apparatus and a special district commission
 exercised control over the course of ukrainization. The materials of the
 inspections noted a violation of the terms of its realization, the absence
 of the Ukrainian language in urban space.
