різними дослідниками альтернативні стильові визначення – українське відродження, ренесансно-бароковий синтез, національний стиль
тощо. Проте тепер у фаховій літературі, в науці, освіті й культурі прижився й поширився термін «українське бароко» та похідні від
нього (бароко козацьке, мазепинське). З огляду на таку ситуацію, в
статті опрацьовано основні ознаки, характерні риси досліджуваної
стилістики, її взаємозв’язки з загальноєвропейським стилем бароко,
хронологічні етапи розвитку з урахуванням соціальної обумовленості. Запропоновано узгодження термінологічних дефініцій із сутністю цього складного й багатогранного явища.
The article is devoted to the problems of stylistic definitions of the
architecture of Ukraine of the Cossack and Hetmanate period of the
2nd half of the XVII-XVIII centuries, including in the Siver region. The
stylistic definitions of baroque and Ukrainian baroque accepted in modern
architectural studies do not convey the specificity and uniqueness of this
architectural style as an original Ukrainian phenomenon. Related to this
are alternative stylistic definitions proposed by various researchers – the
Ukrainian Renaissance, Renaissance-Baroque synthesis, national style, etc.
However, now in the professional literature, science, education and culture
the term «Ukrainian baroque» and its derivatives (Cossack baroque, Mazepa
baroque) have taken root and spread. The aim of the article is to identify
the main features, characteristics of the studied style, its relationship with
the European style of the Baroque, the chronological stages of development,
taking into account social conditioning. The result of this study should be
the harmonization of terminological definitions with the essence of this
complex and multifaceted phenomenon. The conclusions and prospects
for further research in this area are reduced to the recommendation to
clearly distinguish the relevant terminological definitions, which should
best correspond to the essence of the phenomenon they outline. Based on
this, the Baroque should be understood as the dominant pan-European
architectural style in the last third of the XVI – 1st half of the XVIII
century; Ukrainian Baroque is a general and rather conventional name
of architectural stylistics in Ukraine of the second half of the 17th-18th
centuries; the stylistic definition of the Cossack Baroque indicates the social
basis of the flourishing of this style; Mazepa Baroque is a chronological
stage in the most intensive development of this style. Adherence to such
stylistic definitions, enshrined in the relevant articles of the Great Ukrainian
Encyclopedia, will avoid confusion and misunderstandings both in scientific
works and in popular science publications.
