У статті розглядається роль та значення видатного майстра в історії національної культури, зокрема книжкового мистецтва. Розкриваються етапи становлення Г. Нарбута як художника-графіка, який став для багатьох поколінь українських митців орієнтиром і духовним наставником у виробленні свого стилю. The article considers the role and significance of an outstanding master in the history of national culture, in particular book art. The stages of formation of H. Narbut as a graphic artist, who has become for many generations of Ukrainian artists a reference and spiritual mentor in the development of his style, are revealed. The article analyzes certain aspects of the work of Heorhii Narbut, explores the biography of the artist and reveals the artist’s creative achievements. Having great authority in artistic circles, Narbut in a short period was able to radically change the idea of book graphics in the cultural life of the then society with his work. His images, recreated in books and periodicals, were in every house, becoming an integral part of the life of the people. The artist’s work in the field of typeface was the discovery of an era many years in advance, marked the development of this type of art in Ukraine. The samples of Ukrainian state paper money and bonds, postage stamps and exchange coins, the coat of arms of Kiev, the Coat of Arms and the Seal of the Ukrainian State created by him became an important contribution to the history of Ukraine.
