У статті подано та проаналізовано різні групи джерел, які висвітлюють історію Чернігівської духовної семінарії в 1786–1919 рр., – одного з провідних навчальних закладів у системі середньої та вищої освіти на території Північного Лівобережжя. At the present stage of historical science development, the interest in studying the church role in all spheres of public life is increasing. A significant contribution to the development of education, science and culture belonged to theological educational institutions. Famous scholars, educators, artists, state and public figures finished theological seminaries and academies. Chernihiv Seminary, basing on achievements of Chernihiv Collegium, gradually turned into one of the leading educational institutions in the region, an important part in the system of secondary and higher education in the northern Left Bank in late 18th – early 20th centuries.
