У статті реконструйовано семантичний обсяг, проаналізовано функції оцінних іменників
 і прикметників, які моделюють соціально-етичні портрети святих князів Бориса і
 Гліба у писемних східнослов’янських пам’ятках ХІ-ХІІІ ст. («Читання про Бориса і Гліба», «Сказання про Бориса і Гліба», літописи, Києво-Печерський патерик та ін.). Незважаючи
 на те, що в пам’ятках Борис і Гліб представлені як єдине ціле, як пара, їхні соціально-етичні портрети нетотожні, індивідуалізовані. Доведено, що у використанні хвалебних
 епітетів-означень (блаженыи, богоблаженыи, кротъкыи, моудрыи, правъдивыи, пріблаженыи, сватыи, съміреныи, тихыи та ін.) поряд з іменами Бориса і Гліба є чітка закономірність, система, слідування правилам літературного етикету, а також орієнтація
 на моральний кодекс честі людини водночас і лицарського, і церковно-монашого середовища.
 Докладно описано семантичні особливості і стильові функції негативно конотованих іменників і прикметників (безбожъныи, беззаконьныи, беззаконъникь, братоненавидьникъ, немилосьрдыи, немилостивый, нечьстивыи, оканьныи, окатньныи та ін.) у концептуалізації образів Святополка Окаянного та його прибічників. The research focuses on the fragment of the early East Slavic world view, directly linked
 to the thinking and socio-ethical priorities of a mediaeval person. The conceptual domain
 of the fragment of the «socio-ethical assessment of person» of the Kyiv Rus’ period world view
 has been illuminated in the substantive-adjectival discours. The article is based on the analysis
 of Old literary monuments of XI-XIII centuries, in particular, the hagiographies of Boris and
 Gleb, the Radzivill, the Lavrenty, the Galicia-Volyn, the Kyiv chronicles etc.
 It is the first time that the paradigm of socio-ethical portraits of grand dukes Boris, Gleb and
 his enemies come under scholarly scrutiny. The quantitative and semantic volume, functions
 of nouns and adjectives that simulate the socio-ethical portraits of grand dukes Boris, Gleb and
 his enemies in East Slavic literary monuments of XI-XIII centuries were determined.
 The socio-ethical portraits of grand dukes Boris and Gleb contain more than 20 substantives
 and adjectives with positive connotation (блаженыи, богоблаженыи, кротъкыи, моудрыи,
 правъдивыи, пріблаженыи, свлтыи, съміреныи, тихыи, etc.). Grand dukes Boris and Gleb
 personify double, pair sacrifice, but their socio-ethical portraits on the pages of Old literary
 monuments are different, not identical. The conceptualization of Boris and Gleb characters
 in literary monuments in connection with the realization the Christian concept of humbleness,
 resignation have been investigated. The phenomenon of the substantive-adjectival
 conceptualization of Boris and Gleb’ images indicates that the motif humbleness is interpreted
 in the light of the motif respect for a father and the motif respect for an elder brother.
 Lexical and semantic corpus of more than 20 substantives and adjectives with negative
 connotation (безбожъныи, беззаконъныи, беззаконьникь, братоненавидьникь,
 немилосърдыи, немилостивыи, нечьстивыи, оканъныи, окашнъныи, etc.) that model
 socio-ethical portraits of Svyatopolk and his supporters come under scholarly scrutiny.
 Paradigmatic, functional, semantic, intra- and inter-lexeme links have been disclosed within
 the conceptual domain.
