У статті йдеться про розуміння О. О. Потебнею сутності тропа як стрибка—від об’єктивного образу (міфічного, первинного, «першообразного», «конкретнообразного», еквівалентного значенню) або від суб’єктивного (художнього, вторинного, відмінного від значення) до конкретного значення. На основі ізоморфізму міфопоетичного / художнього тропів та ближчого / дальшого значень слова формується уявлення про подвійний характер переосмислень як таких. In theory by O. Potebnia trope is a leap — from the objective image (the mythical, initial, concrete) or subjective (art, secondary, far from the original) to a specific value. How connected mythical and artistic type trope, so near and further meaning combined. Therefore there is an idea of the dual nature of all rethinking. However, the most important role in the structure of trope belongs to the original, the mythical image. It identified with the inner form, with representations as concentrated, the only bright sign. Mythical image - this poetic formula tertium comparationis. In theory by O. Potebnia metonymy and synecdoche — is the oldest types of tropes that lose their poetic allegory. Metaphor — is not only an old trope, but a universal ability figurative language. Comparison — this type later tropes, and the general principle of establishing similarities and poetic image as being close to poetic formula tertium comparationis.
