У статті представлено початки формування лексики спеціальних галузей у деяких південнослов’янських країнах, показано актуальні напрями діяльності південнослов’янських термінологів та констатовано певні виклики, що позначаються на формуванні мови нових галузей знань і сприяють удосконаленню вже наявних з огляду на історичні традиції в цій сфері. Окреслено два напрями роботи науковців регіону: практичний і теоретичний, приділено увагу галузевій термінологічній лексикографії, що посідає важливе місце у сфері інтересів південнослов’янських термінологів. The article focuses on the earliest lexicon formation of special fields in some South Slavic countries; the urgent directions of the South Slavic terminologists’ work were outlined. Certain challenges which are essential for the language formation in new fields of knowledge as well as the improvement of already existing ones were identified taking into account the historical traditions concerning this particular issue. The two directions of the scientists’ work in the region were investigated: practical and theoretical. Special attention was paid to the special terminological lexicography, which constitutes the practical domain of scientific studies and plays an important role in the sphere of South Slavic terminologists’ interests.
