Об’єктом дослідження ми обрали прикметники на означення якостей людини як одного з найважливіших засобів вираження оцінної семантики в «Словарі української мови» Бориса Грінченка (т. 1). Category of evaluation – is one of the most relevant linguistic categories, as its semantics performs the system of values in surrounding world and value of a person in it, which are objectified by language units. Linguists as a rule research this universal category in functional-semantic, cognitive, sociolinguistic, linguistic and cultural, communicative and pragmatic, semantic and stylistic and other aspects. The task of this research work became to describe the system of overall evaluative and partially evaluative meanings of adjectives in process of expression of positive/negative attitude to the characteristics of a person in «Ukrainian language vocabulary» by Borys Hrinchenko.
