Digital Library of Periodicals of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine| Zusammenfassung: | Two species of Elaphoidella: E. gracilis and E. birsteini, were previously known definitely for the Soviet Union. E. bidens coronata, E. denticulata and E. elaphoides were found for the first time in the USSR. The first was discovered in various places of the Dnieper and in the lower reaches of the Danube, in most cases in the surface waters and only once in the Kiev water supply; the second was found only in the flood-plain of the Dnieper near Kanyev (Cherkassy Region); the third, in two places of the Dnieper basin and in the Lower Danube. In the last case the crustacean was caught in the surface waters, which is in general unusual for this underground inhabitant. The known occurrence for each species is cited from the literature. The new finds extend our notions of the area's of these species. |
