These peculiarities are one of the reasons of the individual variations in the extremity innervation. For each species of animals the axial nerves are established which comprise the base of innervation of the extremity skin: in cattle with the principal form the L6 is an axial nerve; with a caudal shift — SI; for a sheep and a pig with six lumbar vertebrae - L6 and SI; in a sheep with seven vertebrae — L7 and SI; in a pig — L6 and L7; in a dog with the principal form L7 is an axial nerve, with the cranial shift — L6.
