The described specimens differ from those described in the literature in two-jointed exopodites of thoracic legs. The female of Bathynella was found in spring near vii. Vladimirovka (Ismail region). The peculiarities of mandibular structure of this specimen (massive upper part, strongly developed denticle 2, very small denticle 7 which is shorter than denticle 6) give grounds to describe this subspecies as new for the science. It is named Bathynella natans ukrainica Monchenk o, subsp. n.
