Description
Summary:Estramomys cf. simplex J a n. is described, the remains of which are found in the Upper Pliocene (Lower Taman) deposits of the Tiligulian section (coastal bench of the Black Sea eastwards the Tiligulian liman) and the Upper Kujalnik layers of the vil. Kryzhanovka (the Odessa outskirts). Finding of eomyides in Eastern Europe is mentioned for the first time. The finding of Eomyidae remains together with Lagurodon and Allophaiomys in the deposits of the Early Taman time deposits is one specific features in eomyide time distribution in Eastern Europe. It is established that within the boundaries of the South of the European part of the USSR Eomyidae were preserved for almost the whole Late Neogene period (from Meotis to the beginning of the second half of Late Pliocene included).
