Висновки. Установлено, що в 1917 р. Генеральний секретаріат розпочав в освітній сфері політику дерусифікації, яка набувала рис поміркованої українізації у сфері шкільної та університетської освіти. Відповідно до нового курсу восени–взимку 1917 р. керівництво Глухівського інституту вносить зміни в навчальну програму й у закладі починають викладатися курси української мови та
літератури. У 1918–1919 рр. кількість українознавчих курсів розширюється за рахунок історії
української культури та історії України. Із встановленням радянської влади відбулося корегування
політики дерусифікації в освітній сфері, і українознавчі дисципліни викладали тільки для студентів-гуманітаріїв інституту. З’ясовано, що в 1923 р. проголошення курсу коренізації в УСРР створило передумови для подальшого реформування освітянської сфери. На жаль, політика українізації гальмувалася відсутністю достатньої кількості навчально-методичної літератури та добре підготовлених кадрів в інституті. Утім, 1926 р. ситуація істотно покращилася, і курси фізики та біології почали викладати українською мовою. Серед викладачів українознавчих курсів в інституті 1917–1924 рр. варто згадати Д.Г. Онацького, Є.Г. Сагарду, А.В. Кириченка, Т.В. Пашкевич (українська мова та література), В.К. Федоренка (історія).
The purpose of the research is the reconstruction of the policy of Derussification and Ukrainization in
1917–1924 on the Chernihiv Region territory and the role of the Hlukhiv Teachers Institute in this process;
the methodological basis of the work consists of general scientific (analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction,
systematic approach) and special-historical (historical-genetic, historical-comparative) methods and
principles of historicism, subjectivism, optimization of the amount of information. The novelty of the work.
For the first time, the article analyzes the content and staffing of the Ukrainization of the Glukhiv Institute
in 1917–1924. For the completeness of the topic, in some cases, the chronological boundaries have been
extended to the second half of the 1920s.
Conclusions. It was revealed that in 1917 the General Secretariat started a policy of derussification in
the educational sphere, which took on the features of moderate Ukrainization in the sphere of school and
university education. In accordance with the new course in the fall and winter of 1917, the management of
the Hlukhiv Institute made changes to the curriculum, and Ukrainian language and literature courses began
to be taught at the institution. In 1918–1919, the number of Ukrainian studies courses was expanded
due to the addition of the history of Ukrainian culture and the history of Ukraine. With the establishment of
Soviet power, the policy of derussification in the educational sphere was adjusted, and Ukrainian studies
disciplines were taught only to humanities students of the institute. It was found out that in 1923 the announcement
of the course of indigenization in the UkrSSR created the prerequisites for further reforming the
educational sphere. Unfortunately, the policy of Ukrainization was hampered by the lack of a sufficient
amount of educational and methodical literature and well-trained staff at the institute. However, in 1926,
the situation improved significantly, and physics and biology courses began to be taught in Ukrainian.
Among the scientific and pedagogical teachers who taught Ukrainian studies courses at the institute from
1917 to 1924, it is worth noting the teachers of Ukrainian language and literature D.H. Onatskyi, E.H. Saharda,
A.V. Kyrychenko, T.V. Pashkevych, teacher of history V.K. Fedorenko.
