The rules for decoding these signs are based on the mythical-magic logic and the cultural tradition. Objects and parts of a body used to guess child sex, have the meaning of male/female symbols. Male symbols are: arms, knives, nose, etc; and female symbols are: scissors, mouth, etc. Attributes employed in the practice of sorcery of child sex are connected with opposition male/female. Males are: right up – vertical – long – pointy etc.; and females are: left–down–lay–round et.
Постоји обиље поступака чији је циљ да се још у току трудноће одреди пол детета. Најчешће су то знакови прорицања засновани на посматрању спољашњег изгледа трудне жене. Правила декодирања ових знакова су основана на митско-магијско логици и културној традицији. Објекти и делови тела који се користе при прорицању пола детета имају значење мушких/женских симбола. Мушки симболи су: оружје, нож, нос, а женски су: маказе, уста и сл. Атрибути примењивани у гатању о полу детеета су повезани са опозицијом мушко/женско. Мушки су: десно – горе – усправно – дугачко – оштро, женски су лево – доле –положено – округло итд.
