У раду се раду се разрешава питање жанровске припадности чувене песме «Косовка дјевојка» из Вукове збирке. После кратког прегледа неколиких досадашњих разматрања о њој и сопствене анализе текста, долази се до закључка да она јесте епска песма са типичним обележјима српске епске поезије као врсте.
