У статті автор робить спробу, не користуючись «рожевими окулярами», відверто оцінити вірогідні причини ситуації, в якій опинилася науково-освітня сфера України в останні десятиліття. На прикладі вищої наукової самоврядної організації України — Національної академії наук простежено поступову зміну ставлення вищих керівників держави до науки і науковців та наведено міркування щодо можливих заходів з відновлення рівня наукових досліджень. In the article, the author makes an attempt, without using "rose-colored glasses", to frankly assess the likely causes of the situation in which the scientific and educational sphere of Ukraine has found itself in recent decades. On the example of the highest self-governing scientific organization of Ukraine — the National Academy of Sciences, the gradual change in the attitude of the top leaders of the state towards science and scientists is traced, and thoughts regarding possible measures to restore the level of scientific research are given.
