Description
Summary:The article analyzes the peculiarities of the ethnocultural processes in the Ukrainian villages around Pavlodar (northeastern Kazakhstan); they were observed by the authoress due to her private expedition to that Ukrainian-populated region. The journey’s objectives were to retrace the time history of a populace’s traditional culture, to ascertain a new environment adaptation level, to examine the opinions on the post-Soviet society and the changes in newly established nation states, and to draw the Ukrainian-Canadian parallels. While gaining information during the expedition, the authoress succeeded in observing the illustrations of maintenance of language, separate constituents of traditional culture (such as family and calendar rites, folk medicine, folk costumes, handicrafts, and trades, etc.) within the region under study.
