Стаття присвячена історії заснування та основним етапам функціонування підпільної організації, створеної та керованої Я.П. Батюком у 1941–1943 рр. у м. Ніжині, на основі опублікованих спогадів М.Н. Шуста, що зберігаються у фондах Ніжинського краєзнавчого музею ім. І. Спаського. Метою даної публікації є висвітлення участі Миколи Шуста у цій організації, характеристика її діяльності та спогадів письменника, розгляд їх як джерела з вивчення історії антифашистського руху в Ніжині та на Ніжинщині.
This article highlights the process of creating and the main stages of functioning of an underground organization created and managed by Ya.P. Batiuk, in 1941–1943 in Nizhyn, on the basis of published memoirs of M.N. Shust, stored in the funds of the NKM naned after I. Spasskyi. The purpose of this publication is to highlight the participation of Mykola Shust in this organization, characterize its activities and memoirs of the writer, considering them as sources for studying the history of the anti-fascist movement in Nizhyn and Nizhyn region. One of the most famous figures of educational and socio-cultural space of the Nizhyn region of the second half of the XXth century was Mykola Naumovych Shust - teacher, writer, publicist, and public figure, member of the underground organization of Ya.P. Batiuk. In historical and philological literature, his creative work has never been the subject of special scientific research, but in the scientific literature there is a fragmentary coverage of the creative heritage of the writer. It should be noted that almost all of M. Shust’s literary work is devoted to the events of the Second World War, each of his works is undoubtedly a living memory of the author. Each of the considered works is a documentary evidence of the main events in the life and work of the underground organization of Ya.P. Batyuk. With the help of Mykola Naumovych’s memoirs, we can trace not only the process of creation, but also the main goal of this organization, and trace the active participation of Mykola Naumovych Shust in its work. In addition, each of the works can serve as an additional historical source in the study of both the anti-fascist movement in Nizhyn and Nizhyn region, as well as the work of M.N. Shust. In addition, it is very important that the writer in no way associates an underground group led by Ya.P. Batiuk with the Komsomol, or with the addition of some other political or ideological strains that the Soviet government has always tried to impose. Mykola Naumovych, like every member of the underground group, was simply an ardent patriot of his homeland Ukraine.
